Is Doom a screen time app or an investing app?

Both, on purpose. The app blocker is free and works on its own: shields, schedules, focus sessions, insights. Investing is an opt-in layer that gives the moment you break focus a price, and makes that price a stock you own.

Does Doom hold my money?

No. You connect your own brokerage account with Alpaca, and orders go directly from your iPhone to Alpaca. Doom is not a broker-dealer or investment adviser; brokerage services are provided by Alpaca Securities LLC, member FINRA / SIPC.

The current TestFlight build runs on Alpaca paper trading, so the loop works end to end without a real dollar moving. You bring your own keys, and they stay on your device.

What does Doom see when I'm scrolling?

On-device counts of app opens, only for apps you've added to your shield list. Apple's Screen Time framework processes activity on the device. We never see your screen, your messages, or the sites you visit.

Do I need a brokerage account to use Doom?

No. Blocking, focus sessions and insights work with no account, no KYC, and no bank link. The brokerage connection only happens if you opt into investing.

Can I get my money back?

Subscriptions are billed by Apple, so refund requests go through the App Store. Brokerage funds live in your own Alpaca account and stay yours: withdraw or close it whenever you like. See our Refunds and Investment Disclosures pages.
